VMware new product releases

VMware announced a couple of new products today: SRM 4 and WS 7.

 

VMware Site Recovery Manager 4

Most important features are

 

  • vSphere support
  • NFS support
  • Shared recovery site support
  • FT support 

 

They jumped from version 1 to 4 so the version numbers are consistent with vSphere numbering. 

 

Also, a new version of Workstation (7) has been announced along with Ace 2.6 and Player 3.0. I already tested the technology preview and it's an improvement.. again..

Most important features here are

 

  • Aero support in Windows 7 and Vista
  • Windows 7 support altogether
  • Multicore guests
  • Thinprint printing
  • ALSA linux sound support
  • VM encryption
